At Betty Lou’s, we have always believed that there is a connection between what we eat and how we feel. Everyone wants to feel their best, and when Betty Lou decided to remove refined sugar from her family’s diet 32 years ago, she began creating recipes that were made with honey and brown rice syrup instead. Children know what they like, and her sons were her very first taste-testers. As she fine-tuned the recipes her boys’ friends took notice, and soon she had the most popular yard in the nei

These were a real help to me on a recent trip to Europe. I can’t have gluten, so these were a perfect snack to tide me over until I could find a place that served gluten free foods. They are filling, taste good, and don’t get too squashed in the bottom of a travel bag.

5 stars for the product, 1 star for customer service, May 11, 2015
This review relates more to Betty Lou’s than the Energy Balls themselves, which are delicious and which would normally get 5 stars. I purchased 3 boxes of these and noticed when I was halfway through the second box a tiny sticker on the bottom with a California Prop 65 Warning that the product contained lead. Lots of foods contain lead, like chocolate and potatoes, so I wasn’t overly concerned, but I wanted to know the reason for the sticker, whether it was only on the boxes I bought, and whether eating 3 boxes might be too much.

I wrote the company twice but they never responded. This made me wonder whether they were trying to hide something, and I chose not to eat any more Energy Balls. Other companies with Prop 65 Warnings have been much more open and reassuring about the reasons for the stickers, and I was very disappointed that Betty Lou’s chose to ignore me, to the point where I doubt I will purchase their products again.

Tastes great, but that’s due to all the added sugar, disguised under a different name.
