Target was clearing out their Crockpot Delicious Dinner stock, so we figured I’d take a chance on it at a great price. I’ve done Jambalaya before and the prep work can be quite time consuming but it’s hard to argue with the results. The prep with Delicious Dinner is pretty easy but a but different to say the least. Combine 3 to 3 ½ lbs of boneless chicken (they say thighs, but we used breast), 5 ¼ cups of water and the seasoning packet to a 6 or 7 quart crockpot and let it cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 6 hours. I opted for the low and let it go all day for the full 10 hours. The smell at hour 8 was mouthwatering to say the least! The recipe calls for shredding the chicken once it’s done and let me tell you…you only needed a fork to do it…just perfect! Once done you mix the yellow soup base (roux) with a tablespoon of cold water and stir, then add it, the vegetable and rice mix, the sausage and shrimp, and the chicken back into the crockpot and cook for another 30 minutes. One thing I did was to cut up and brown the sausage first in a pan. That way the Jambalaya didn’t get too greasy from the sausage fat, but you don’t have to. The end result was very tasty and not terribly spicy for those wanting a milder flavor palate. I’m not a huge fan of chicken but loved this dish as the chicken was truly broken down into small strips and the taste was fantastic. If you like it spicier I would suggest adding some TABASCO brand Pepper Sauce – Original Red 5oz. to kick it up a few notches.

As far as crockpot recipes go, this was one of the easiest and most satisfying I’ve done. Coming home to the delightful smells feels so good, especially knowing that your crockpot has done all the work for you! Delicious Dinners offers a number of choices including Crock-Pot Delicious Dinners Beef Chili, 12.75 Ounce and these are definitely worth tracking down or requesting at your local grocery store. The rice turned out perfectly…everything was so much easier than my old school Jambalaya. Give it a go! A bien tôt!

Wife ordered several flavors. All I know is she put them into the crock pot and the end result was a very tasty dinner. She will order several more. Yum!

Great flavor. Easy as any Crockpot recipe and it makes a hardy portion. It slow cooks for 7-10 hours and comes out great. I’m not a Jambalaya connoisseur but I’m sure you will be satisfied with this product. Recommendation is to use he best andouille sausage you can find.
