I can’t count on my local grocer to have this in stock, so I get it in bulk on Amazon for a decent price. I make it a meal by cooking up 3-4 packets, and adding cooked chicken breast and cashews, with steamed broccoli on the side. Takes about 20 minutes to get a delightful dinner on the table.

Knorr has perfected many of their sides, and some of them are duplicated in the rice / and or noodle sections. The teriyaki noodles are very good as is and even more delicious if you add some frozen vegetables to them. I use about a cup of stir-fry vegies for the most part, and it then becomes a nice vegetarian meal. You could also ad some shredded cooked chicken to the mix or some smoked sausage (best if chopped up into coin sized bites). I often use this as an entire meal when I do it this way. It works well in the teriyaki noodles rice version. This makes a very good cost effective meal and it tastes wonderful. I’ve been buying this for years (along with many other knorr Rice and Noodle sides.) I recommend you try it.

This tastes like a Japanese side would. I like the noodles. It only takes about 7 minutes in a skillet. Quick fixin’s after a day at work.

The baby loves this mix of grains! There is fruit mixed in and it is a simple as mixing with hot water and stirring. Each packet has a generous amount for an under one year old. I love that I can just throw a pack in my bag and mix with his hot thermos water anywhere we are.

Yummy, my toddler approves. It was easy to make and tasty. I recommend using a little less water. It comes unsweetened, which I prefer so we added mashed bananas and honey. For kids under 1 and banana and maybe some agave. Yum. The consistency is fine, more like grits, perfect for babies and toddlers.

PLUM ORGANICS HELLO MORNING OATMEAL is a product that is configured for toddlers, but is equally edible by adults. The only feature of this product that makes it configured for toddlers, is the fact that the serving size provided by the tearaway envelopes is small. According to the ingredients list, the order of ingredients is oats, banana, quinoa, blueberries, and ground chia seed. To this reviewer, the product did not have any particular flavor, and it did not have any hint, essence, or suggestion of banana flavor. But what was tangible, was the appealing texture of quinoa (and the absence of the slimy texture that is so typical of oatmeal). My only word of caution, is that the parent will need to take care to break up any lumps that are present even after cooking. Although I did stir the product briefly after adding boiling water, it turned out that a lump did survive the boiling water, and did survive an extra minute in the microwave oven.

TRAINING BABY TO ENJOY A DIET WITHOUT ADDED SUGAR. A positive feature of this product, is absence of added sugar. A mainstream concern of the professional nutrition community, for example, those who have a Registered Dietitian (RD) degree, is the tendency of infant feeding practices to carry over to adolescent and adult food consumption practices. In short, a parent who feeds a toddler a diet that is high in sugar, fat, and salt, will wind up with an obese teenager. One of the many studies on this issue is Brekke, et al (2007) British J. Nutrition. 97:176-181. An excerpt appears below. In my opinion, PLUM ORGANICS BABY HELLO MORNING is a product that is well-suited for introducing baby to a diet, where the main course is low in added sugars.

ADVANTAGE OF FOODS WITHOUT ADDED SUGAR. The following is an excerpt from the Brekke article, cited above. “Foods rich in sugar have been suggested to contribute to the increasing prevalence of obesity in children. The aim of this report is to investigate the dietary pattern in 1-year-old children who frequently receive foods rich in sugar but low in nutrients and to study associated demographic and parental factors. . . . They had a higher intake of French fries, potato crisps and cream as well as a lower intake of fruit and vegetables. A frequent intake of sugar-rich, low-nutrient foods was significantly associated with several maternal factors . . . high intake of sweets/pastries during pregnancy . . .”
