Great for the sweet tooth. Surprised to find they are owned by General Mills, July 23, 2015

This review is from: LARABAR Fruit & Nut Food Bar, Apple Pie, Gluten Free 1.6 ounce , 5 count (Grocery)
First I want to note that Larabars are owned by General Mills and distributed by Small Planet Foods, (A division of General Mills.) After reading the label on the bars, (which only states where they are distributed from and neglects to mention where they are made, and no mention of General Mills anywhere on the label.) I called the 800 number and spoke to someone there, when I asked where the bars were made, what country specifically, she had to put me on hold, came back got my UPC code from my box of bars, and then told me that they were made in the USA, she stated that all Larabars are made in the USA but that they don’t give out the exact location of manufacturing. I found it strange that she just didn’t say, “All Larabars are made in the USA…” if that’s truly the fact. General Mills donated a big chunk of money to be able to continue to hide what goes into our foods, (talking about the information on the label) so I am feeling a bit betrayed by finding out that Larabar is owned by them and not the sunny little Denver company that originally started them. NOW, having said that! Larabars have been a favorite of mine. We’re big on gluten free and sugar/sweetener free products and it’s difficult to find items that have absolutely no sugar/sweeteners. I don’t have a comparison bar to Larabar because I simply cannot find any other bars that are gluten and sugar/sweetener free. I should note that they are still high in carbs due to the dried fruit. Larabars satisfy my sweet tooth. They do make up 20% of your daily recommended values of sugar based on a 2000 calorie intake. The sugar is natural form from the fruit.

These Larabar Apple Pie bars are very good and with 5g. fiber, 5mg. sodium, 4% of your recommended daily requirement of iron based on a 2000 calorie diet and 4g. protein they make the perfect nutritional sweet treat or a quick way to stave off hunger. Fresh, soft bars that are perfect for anytime. They freeze well, so if they get close to their “best by date” you can just toss them in the refrigerator or freezer. According to the website, Larabars have a 12 month shelf life. Lastly, the kids love these!

Delicious vegan bars!, September 17, 2014

Rachel Ithen (Bay Area, CA) –

I’m addicted to these all of a sudden, and this flavor might be my favorite that I’ve tried.

I discovered this brand after I started working in an all-vegan bakery surrounded by vegan and vegetarian co-workers. These got such great reviews that I had to try them out. The initial selling points for me were that they were vegan (meaning I could bring them to work) and most of them had no added sugar, and only contained the natural sugar found in the dates and whatever other fruits were inside.

I was admittedly nervous about the taste, but these things are EFFING DELICIOUS. This flavor in particular blows my mind. Something with “cookie dough” in the title can be comprised of cashews, dates, chocolate chips, and sea salt and be as delicious as any old candy bar? Amazing! This flavor is a little more of an indulgence than some others because of the chocolate chips (with sugar) but it’s so, so good.

The price can be a little steep depending on where you’re buying these. But they’re worth it. I’ve learned to shop around and I know the places in my area that sell them for cheapest.

sweet, and strongly taste of peanut butter, June 27, 2014

Peanut butter cookies are crumbly, sweet, and strongly taste of peanut butter. They melt in your Mouth. I have no idea how Lara Bar can replicate this in a lara bar, but they pull it off entirely. And on top of that the product is:
    1) Vegan.

    2) soy-free.

    3) non-GMO.

    4) a tasty blend of salty and sweet

    5) Not high in sodium.

    6) This product comes in individual packages, which is good for, lunches, snacks, trips, a quick breakfast on the way out in the morning, or just eating because you LOVE it.

This product is superb; the ingredients are wholesome. I will buy these over and over again.
