I own a few rice cookers, a fuzzy Zo with porridge etc settings, a couple Aromas of various sizes and models, and this Lotus. The others all have no-stick bowls. This one is surgical stainless. My worry with it was that the rice would stick, but it does not. It also cooked the rice nicely and with no browning on the bottom. The Zo also hasn’t browned the bottom of rice but the Aromas do so nearly every time, which is a demerit on otherwise very good rice cookers. So, if you want stainless steel in a simple cook/warm rice cooker, this one will do the job very well indeed. I highly recommend it. Mine is the 6 cup uncooked / 12 cup cooked rice model.

I just got this steamer a couple days ago and have used it twice. It’s pretty simple to use. I haven’t cooked any rice yet (although I plan to). I have used this to steam vegetables, and it does a terrific job. It starts producing steam in what seems to be a fairly normal amount of time (maybe slightly faster) when compared to steaming on a stove. The steaming tray holds enough for a couple people to eat a hefty amount of vegetables (or whatever you are steaming). I eat a lot of vegetables, so you may disagree and say that it holds enough for the whole family. As far as cooking time is concerned it seems like it takes just a tad bit longer than boiling.

By the way the unit is constructed well and looks pretty good. The stainless steel parts are NOT cheap pieces of crap either!

If I end up having problems with this I’ll update this review, but at this point I do not expect that to happen.

I have been using this for over a month now, and I still haven’t had any problems. I use it a few times a week if not more. I have cooked rice in it a handful of times now, and it has turned out just as well as cooking it in a pot.

The stainless steel cooking pot is what got me interested in this rice cooker. Has a stainless steel steaming tray as well. Does exactly what I need it to do. No bells and whistles, but I figure, the more complex an appliance is, the more that can go wrong with it. I just want to cook rice, oatmeal, etc., fuss-free, and this is just what it does. So far, my rice has come out great every time. The *only* feature I would add: a ding or other audible signal when the cooker switches from cook to warm. Otherwise, I would recommend this rice cooker without reservation.
