BEWARE – Sizes have decreased – no longer 2 oz packs, July 17, 2012

I have ordered and reordered this item several times. The last shipment I received (two boxes) the package sizes had decreased from 2 oz to 1.75 for the peanuts and 1.5 for the cashews.

I realize this is from Planters and it’s a sign of the times but the product description needs to be updated.

We like these at work but just like Granola bars, the price stays the same (or goes up) and the product size goes down.

The product itself is fine but I am sick of getting ripped off by changes in product portions. Planters-Nuts On the Go Snack Packs, 24/2 oz Variety Packs

I have had a love affair with peanuts for much of my life, and folks if you want better peanuts in small packages try those distributed by the same people who make the famous corn chips. The bags are 2 for a dollar at your local convenience store. Why should peanuts taste different? I am not sure exactly. I think its in the roast. Planters are darker and I assume spend a longer time boiling in oil. This imparts a darker, somewhat bitter taste. The Frito product is blond and sweet. Tom’s and Golden Flake also make a great peanut in 1.75 ounce bags. Stay away from Aldi’s peanuts. They are dry and tasteless. As for peanuts in a can…you cannot do better than the Kroger salted. Anyway, pontificating at great length over peanuts is doing nothing to help my credibility. I bid you adieu.

This review is from: Planters Trail Mix, Fruit & Nut, 2-oz. Bags (Count of 72) (Grocery)
These are really delicious as others have stated. However as some have noted, there is NO expiration date on these. There is a lot code (ex. mine is 4151×8) but there is NO other printed package-specific information on the items. I also carefully looked over the box they came in and there is no date listed there either. It is a little worrisome because I have no idea if these have been sitting in a warehouse for the last 5 years or are actually fresh. They really need to fix this.
