So what does it taste like? Well…,
Mostly it tastes like the cheese though. The chicken soup hint is more of a background thing, adding a nice well-rounded richness. The ever-so-slight vitamin-y wang is there for a split-second at the first, but then it’s gone. Honestly it’s not unpleasant; just when you think “Ew this is gonna be gross!” it kinda blends nicely with the cheesy taste, giving an almost toasted-cheese flavor…
I can see why the vegans are so nuts about it – this would be invaluable for making a “cheese” sauce to top burgers. Or maybe mixed with hot cocoanut oil and powered salt, and drizzled over popcorn…
If you’re trying to avoid cheese in your diet and you’re not SUPER picky about taste, this is a fine substitute.
My only real complaint, and it’s just a personal preference, is that it’s visually unappealing. It looks like goldfish flakes, frankly. I wish they’d powder it, or cube it like bullion.
